She's covered sports for several of the biggest outlets around the globe. The last decade was spent working for The Washington Post covering football, basketball, multiple Olympics and Grand Slam Tennis. Nichols spent nine years at ESPN and won the network two Emmy Awards. The first show she created and hosted was her own show, Unguarded featuring Rachel Nichols, and aired regularly on CNN and CNN International. It was watched by millions of viewers from all over the globe. Nichols was a reporter for TNT during this period, reporting on NBA broadcasts like playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. She also reported for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts as well as Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is only the second nomination in the 42 years that have preceded the honor for a female out of more than 200 contenders.
