When she was initially inspired through the shadows she observed on the grass of the trees, she worked for months to develop a technique which didn't depict an object as a two-dimensional image. Instead, the object is transformed into a reproduction of itself, where the surface transforms into the medium for it's own painterly interpretation, especially when the subject is alive or perishable, such as people or fruits. Alexa's painting style is ephemeral, and all left of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Because the photography and painting techniques are coordinated so closely it creates the trompe-l'oeil effect that creates the illusion of three dimensions can only be seen at specific points, such as the region around the eyes or hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3D space that surrounds them. Their interaction as well as the world they created is conceivable. It eliminates any distinction between photography, painting, and installation.
